Growing up in a lower-middle-class family in regional Australia, and as a Trans and Queer person, Vitoria understands that the rights of workers, queer communities, and those in regional, rural, and remote (RRR) areas require organised, collective action.
“Radicalism from both the far left and far right within Western society has long sought to exploit Trans, Queer, and regional, rural, & remote (RRR) communities. As a firm believer in pragmatism, I recognise that Australian workers and students cannot mobilise at the drop of a hat. That is why YLDA exists: to help build sustainable, inclusive spaces for communities, and to guide Victorian Young Labor toward a stronger, more united future, one that genuinely stands against extremism and tokenistic populism.”
“Throughout my term, I aim to establish YLDA as a genuine alternative, a ‘New Young Labor’ approach, challenging populism within Young Labor and ensuring RRR students are meaningfully connected to the same resources available to metropolitan students.”
“It’s our time to shine, to fight, and to lead the way.”
